Dental examination and diagnosis – a comprehensive dental exam will be performed at your initial dental visit. At your regular six monthly check up exam, our dentists perform an examination of the teeth and entire oral cavity to check for dental decay, gum disease and oral or mouth cancer.

Digital radiography (digital X-ray) – this is the latest technology used to take dental X-rays. The technique uses an electronic sensor (instead of X-ray film) to capture and store digital images on a computer. Dental X-rays are essential, preventative, diagnostic tools that provide valuable information not visible during a regular dental exam. Dentists use this information to safely and accurately detect hidden dental abnormalities and problem areas that could otherwise go undetected.

Dental cleaning removes calculus, the hardened plaque that can become firmly attached to the tooth surface. Composite fillings – composite or ‘white’ fillings are used as a treatment for tooth decay, and also to repair a tooth that is cracked, broken or worn down. They are sculpted to create the original tooth shape and colour and restore strength to the tooth.

Crowns – a crown is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface and restores it to original shape and size. It protects and strengthens tooth structure and in the case of a heavily filled or weakened tooth, holds everything together and prevents any weakened pieces chipping off or cracking. Dental crowns made from ceramic, porcelain or porcelain bonded to metal are most common.

Fixed Bridge – a dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) appliance used to bridge the gap created by a single missing tooth or multiple missing teeth. The gap is bridged by inserting an artificial tooth or ‘pontic’ anchored in place by attaching it to the teeth on either side of the gap, by placing crowns over the supporting or abutment teeth. Bonding – this is a procedure where special tooth coloured composite resin material is applied to the tooth, sculpted into shape, then hardened using a dental curing light, which permanently bonds the material to the tooth. The material used is colour matched, shaped and polished to blend with the surrounding teeth, so that the bonded tooth will look extremely natural.

Dental implants replace a missing tooth with a titanium post placed in the jawbone, topped with a crown, bridge or denture. Unlike a removable denture, the result is fixed in place and functions like a natural tooth.

Aligners are manufactured for each individual patient and move the patient’s teeth, little by little, until teeth are straightened into the final position prescribed by your dentist.
